Suzy to star as retired K-pop idol in new Netflix series 'Doona!'
Singer and actor Suzy will play a retired K-pop idol in Netflix’s new series “Doona!”
“Doona!” will be a Netflix series based on the popular Naver Webtoon series of the same name by cartoonist Min Song-ah. The webtoon is a romantic fiction telling the story of a former famous K-pop idol and an ordinary university student.
Netflix confirmed Suzy’s casting on Monday and also announced that actor Yang Se-jong was cast as her co-star.
Director Lee Jung-hyo, who was behind the dramas “Crash Landing on You” (2019), “Romance is a Bonus Book” (2019) and “The Good Wife” (2016) will direct “Doona!”
Suzy debuted in 2010 as a member of girl group Miss A, one of the notable second-generation K-pop groups. She launched her acting career in 2011 through the KBS series “Dream High” and has had a prolific filmography. Though she has focused more on acting in recent years, she has been trying different music styles through her solo digital singles.
