Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards to accept original content submissions
The Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards, jointly held as part of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), will start accepting dramas and other original content produced for television and online streaming platforms, the organizers said Sunday.
The mashup awards ceremony will take place on Oct. 6 as part of the annual Busan film fest, which will take place from Oct. 2 to 11, to honor video works created outside of the film industry, namely television dramas and original content for online streaming services, also known as over-the-top (OTT) services.
The Asia Contents Awards, which began in 2019, was founded by BIFF and the Busan Metropolitan City government. The Global OTT Awards, organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT and hosted by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, joined the Asian award ceremony last year.
The joint ceremony will start taking submissions on Monday until July 22. Participants can apply for 11 categories including Best Creative, Best OTT Original, Best Asian Contents and more. There are four invitation categories, including the newly added People's Choice Award, which will be given to actors who win the most votes from the public and fans.
Detailed information on which works can apply will be uploaded on the ceremonies' official website, according to the organizer.
This year marks the 29th year for BIFF, which first launched in 1996 and was the first international film festival to be held in Korea.
Funded by Busan Metropolitan City, the Korean Film Council and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the festival screens hundreds of films in selected theaters in the city and draws cinephiles and film industry insiders to its screenings.
