BTS's Jungkook, Blackpink's Lisa and more nominated for MTV's Video Music Awards
K-pop acts such as BTS’s Jungkook, Blackpink's Lisa, boy band Tomorrow X Together and more have been nominated for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
Jungkook was nominated in two categories, Best Collaboration and Best K-pop, for his song “Seven” (2023) featuring U.S. rapper Lotto, according to the list of nominees released by MTV on Tuesday. This is the third consecutive year the member was nominated for the award ceremony.
Jungkook was previously nominated for the Song of Summer category in 2022 for featuring in U.S. singer Charlie Puth’s song “Left and Right” (2022). The BTS member was nominated in the same category for the song “Seven” the following year.
Other K-pop acts were nominated for Best K-pop category, including boy bands Tomorrow X Together, NCT Dream and Stray Kids. The boy bands were nominated for their songs "Deja Vu," "Smoothie" and "Lalalala," respectively.
This is the fourth time that Tomorrow X Together was nominated in the category, for the songs "Cat & Dog" (2019), "Runaway" (2019) and "Sugar Rush Ride" (2023).
Lisa's song "Rockstar" and girl group NewJeans' song "Super Shy" (2023) were also nominated in the Best K-pop category.
"Rockstar" was nominated for multiple categories for this year's awards, including Best Editing, Best Choreography and Best Art Direction.
Girl group Le Sserafim was nominated for the PUSH Performance of the Year category for its performance of the song "Easy."
The category nominates candidates who participated in the "MTV PUSH" campaign, in which the music broadcaster highlights an act every month for interviews, performances and digital content. This year's award is the first for Le Sserafim.
Jungkook is currently serving his military service in the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi. The BTS member is set to be discharged on June 11, 2025.
