ILLIT to release new Japanese single 'Bubee' on April 6
K-pop girl group ILLIT is set to release a new Japanese single titled "Bubee" on April 6, its agency Belief Lab announced Saturday.
Infused with Shibuya-kei, a 1990s Japanese pop microgenre originating in Tokyo’s namesake district, "Bubee" is a dance-pop song about how anything is possible while with the person you love.
The lyrics are written by a popular Japanese singer-songwriter, noa, who is also behind the song and lyrics of the TikTok-viral "Any Angle" (2024). The artist has collaborated with ILLIT in the past on "Topping" released last year.
The choreography is by Sako Makita, who has worked with J-pop idols M!LK and Cutie Street to success.
"Bubee," apart from its online release, is also set to be featured in the upcoming Japanese TV animation "Magical Sisters LuluttoLilly" as an opening song.
ILLIT has been active in Japan since its debut in 2024, releasing two additional digital singles in 2025 and early this year. Its 2025 hit "Almond Chocolate" was featured in the Japanese film "It Takes More Than a Pretty Face to Fall in Love," which won the Excellent Work Award at last year’s 67th Sparkling! Japan Record Awards.
The group is also set to make its comeback in Korea, through its fourth EP, "MAMIHLAPINATAPAI," on April 30.
