Twice to perform at halftime show for Spurs-Team K League game
Girl group Twice will perform during the halftime show in the upcoming match between Team K League and Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur on July 31, online streaming service Coupang Play said Tuesday.
The match will be the first between the teams in two years and is set to take place at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Mapo District, western Seoul.
"We are delighted to be able to perform at the halftime show of the 2024 Coupang Play Series," Twice said on Tuesday in a press release. "We will do our best to present the best stage for the fans who have been waiting for the Coupang Play Series."
The match comes as part of the Coupang Play Series, a preseason game series that began in 2022 by Korean e-commerce company Coupang that typically invites several European clubs and a sort-of All-Star Team K League to participate.
This year’s Coupang Play Series invited Tottenham Hotspur from Britain as well as Bayern Munich from Germany. This will be the Spurs' second appearance in the series and the German club's first visit to Korea.
Team K League will feature 22 K League players — 12 voted by fans and 10 chosen by K League coaches — brought together to participate in the Coupang Play series.
After playing against the Spurs on July 31, the Korean team will face off against Bayern Munich on Aug. 2.
Twice will release its fifth Japanese full-length album "Dive" on Wednesday. The girl group will also hold solo concerts at Japan's Nissan Stadium in Yokohama on July 27 and 28, becoming the first K-pop girl group and the second K-pop artist to hold solo concerts at the venue.
