Actor Nam Joo-hyuk to begin mandatory military service in December

Actor Nam Joo-hyuk will enlist for his mandatory military service in December, his agency Management Soop said on Monday.

"Nam will wrap up his filming schedules and enlist for active duty in December," the agency stated.

In Korea, all able-bodied young men are required to serve 18 months or more in the military.

Actor Nam Joo Hyuk debuted in 2013 as a fashion model and appeared in the music videos of K-pop duo AKMU in 2014. He officially debuted as an actor through a supporting role in the tvN series “The Mermaid” (2014).

Nam has starred in popular K-dramas including tvN’s “Cheese in the Trap” (2016), SBS’s “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” (2016), MBC’s “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Ju” (2016-17), tvN’s “Bride of the Water God (2017), Netflix’s “The School Nurse Files” (2020), tvN’s “Start-Up (2

Nam has also appeared in films “The Great Battle” (2018) and “Josée” (2020).

He is set to star as the lead role in the Disney original series "Vigilante," set for release next year. He will portray a dark hero-type character who enrolls in the Korean National Police University in order to avenge his parents.
