NCT 127 takes home its first Grand Award at Seoul Music Awards
NCT 127 won the Grand Award at the 31st Seoul Music Awards held on Sunday at Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro District, southwestern Seoul.
The boy band saw success last year with its third full-length album “Sticker,” which sold over 2 million copies. This is the group’s first Grand Award since its debut in 2016.
“We didn’t expect it, but we are deeply moved to receive such a big award,” said member Taeyong.
“We dreamed about winning an award like this for a long time ago. Thank you for this great award,” said member Doyoung.
Boy band BTS, which won the Grand Award for four consecutive years from 2018, took home the Main Award, World Best Artist Award and U+Idol Live Best Artist Award this year.
Other winners of Main Awards were aespa, Ateez, Brave Girls, Enhypen, Heize, IU, Kang Daniel, Lim Young-woong, NCT 127, Oh My Girl, Seventeen and The Boyz.
IU won Best Song for her hit “Lilac” (2021) and NCT Dream was awarded Best Album for its first full-length album “Hot Sauce” (2021), which sold over 2 million copies.
Boy band Exo received the K-wave Popularity Award. Singer Lee Mu-jin and boy bands Epex and Omega X were awarded Rookie of the Year, while Wendy of Red Velvet took home the Ballad Award and singer HyunA the R&B Hiphop Award.
