Oh My Girl's Hyojung to debut in musical theater this May
Girl group Oh My Girl's Hyojung is making her debut in musical theater through the sci-fi show "One Thousand Blues", according to her agency WM Entertainment on Tuesday.
The musical follows a human girl who saves a faulty robot jockey. Together, they embark on a journey to save a racehorse soon to be euthanized. Hyojung will be alternating the human girl role with actor Seo Yeon-jeong.
Boy band Pentagon's Jinho and actor Yoon Tae-ho will alternate as the robot.
"One Thousand Blues" is based on the popular 2020 book of the same title written by Cheon Seon-ran. The original material has since been translated into German, Japanese and Chinese.
The show is slated to play at the Seoul Arts Center in Seocho District, southern Seoul from May 12 to 26.
Hyojung debuted as a member of Oh My Girl in 2015 with the song "Cupid."
The group released songs “Closer” (2015), “Liar Liar” (2016), “Windy Day” (2016), “Secret Garden” (2018), “Remember Me” (2018), “SSFWL” (2019) and “Bungee (Fall In Love)” (2019). In 2018, members Arin, Yubin and Hyojung formed subunit Oh My Girl Banhana to drop the comical song “Banana Allergy Monkey.”
