Park Dong-bin, actor, dies at 55

Park Dong-bin, famous for his role in MBC's “Maybe Love” (2012-13), which also brought about viral internet fame, died on Wednesday. He was 55.

The actor was discovered at around 4:25 p.m. at a restaurant that he was preparing to open on the same day in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, by an acquaintance, according to the Pyeongtaek Police Precinct.


Police found no evidence of foul play and no note or other evidence indicating the circumstances of his death were found, according to the police.

Born in 1970 and debuted in 1996, the actor appeared in films “Shiri” (1999) and “Volcano High School” (2001) and series such as “Rustic Period” (2002-03) and “The King Dae Joyoung” (2006-07).

The actor is widely known in Korea for the “juice meme,” in which he spits out orange juice, letting it stream out of his mouth, after hearing shocking news in MBC’s “Maybe Love” (2012-13).

The late actor married actor Lee Sang-yi in 2020 after the two met through MBC drama “Enemies from the Past” (2017-18) and is survived by a daughter. He appeared in “Dr. Oh’s Golden Clinic” (2021-24) last year, sharing the story of his daughter, who underwent heart surgery shortly after birth.

The funeral altar has been set up at the Domin Funeral Hall in Anseong, Gyeonggi, and the funeral procession is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
