Stray Kids's Hyunjin donates 100 million won to help people with hearing impairments
Hyunjin of boy band Stray Kids donated 100 million won ($72,000) to help people with hearing impairments get hearing aids and rehabilitation sessions, his agency JYP Entertainment said Thursday.
The Stray Kids member made the donation to The Snail of Love, a charity organization dedicated to helping people with hearing impairments and other auditory disabilities. The 100 million won will go to financing people's hearing aid replacements and language rehabilitation education sessions, according to JYP Entertainment.
Because his donation was above 99 million won, Hyunjin became a member of The Snail of Love Soul Leader club.
"I made the donation because I want to help in any way that I can, especially as an artist whose job is to share joy through the power of music," Hyunjin said in a press release. "It's a small donation, but I hope to share the joy of music and the love that I received from fans."
Hyunjin donated 100 million won to The Promise last year to help those damaged by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria and became a member of The Promise Honors Club.
Stray Kids recently received the K-pop Album of the Year award at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards held earlier this month for its third full-length album "5-Star."
The band is set to perform at the I-Days festival in Italy on July 12 and the British Summer Time Hyde Park festival on July 14 in London. It will headline the Lollapalooza Chicago music festival on Aug. 2.
