Universal Music to celebrate 50 years of hip-hop and itself with special event
Universal Music will hold a special hip-hop event on Dec. 16 to commemorate both the genre’s 50-year-old history and the company's 50th anniversary.
The event, titled “Hip-Hop At Fifty by Universal Music” will take place at Avenue 123 in Itaewon of Yongsan District, central Seoul, from 6 p.m. to midnight. There's no admission fee. The event is only for those aged 18 and over.
Attendees will be able to learn about hip-hop's 50-year history and Universal Music's journey with legendary hip-hop artists like 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, JAY-Z, Eminem, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar and Drake throughout those 50 years.
It will also feature performances by Korean hip-hop artists, such as E SENS, Goldbuuda and viceversa, as well as R&B singer-songwriter SAAY from Universal Music.
Strictly Vinyl, a DJ crew with DJs andow, Jeyon and maalib, will show off their mixing skills behind the deck using hip-hop vinyls from Universal Music.
A talk session will also be held, and attendees will be able to purchase rare vinyls and CDs.
“It will be a comprehensive event for hip-hop enthusiasts,” Universal Music said Thursday.
