(G)I-DLE's 'Wife' deemed unfit for broadcasting by KBS
Girl group (G)I-DLE’s new song “Wife” was deemed unfit for broadcasting by national broadcaster KBS on Wednesday.
The broadcaster said the song's lyrics are “too explicit,” in its song review report released Wednesday on the KBS website.
“Wife” dropped on Monday as a pre-release track for its upcoming second full-length album “2.” Member Soyeon participated in the production of the song.
The song raised controversy as soon as it was released for its highly suggestive lyrics.
The group’s other B-side track “Rollie,” set to release on Jan. 29, was also ruled to be unfit for broadcasting because it mentions a specific brand name, according to KBS.
(G)I-DLE and its agency Cube Entertainment did not comment or release a statement regarding the issue.
(G)I-DLE debuted in May 2018 with the EP “I AM” under Cube Entertainment. The band consists of five members: Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi and Shuhua. The band's hit songs include “Latata” (2018), “Tomboy” (2022), “Nxde” (2022) and “Queencard” (2023).
The group’s upcoming second full-length album “2” will drop on Jan. 29, its first full-length album in almost two years.
