Heize to host KBS radio program 'Volume Up'
Singer Heize will host KBS radio program "Volume Up," according to the broadcaster on Tuesday.
She will join the program from Aug. 22, and her first guest on the show will be Taeyeon of Girls' Generation. On Aug. 26, special guest Giriboy, a local rapper, will be featured.
She will be replacing actor Shin Ye-eun, who had been the program's host from November 2021 to July 31.
"I am happy and honored to take on the role of a DJ for a program that I myself have been on as a guest on multiple occasions," Heize said in a statement on Tuesday. "As it airs at night when people conclude their days, I want be a host who can deliver positivity in every word."
"Volume Up" airs every day from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The program first began in 1995 with actor Lee Bon as the host. Since then, stars such as actors Yoo In-na, Kang Han-na and Choi Kang-hee, and singers Narsha and AKMU's Lee Su-hyun have hosted the show.
Heize debuted in 2014 with her EP "Heize." She rose to popularity after appearing on the second season of Mnet's rapping competition program "Unpretty Rapstar" in 2015. She is best known for songs “You, Clouds, Rain,” “Don’t Know You,” “Star” (2017), “Jenga” (2018) and “Falling Leaves are Beautiful” (2019).
