Kep1er is the only Korean artist to make 'Shazam: 2023 Trends'
Girl group Kep1er was the only Korean artist listed on the “Shazam: 2023 Trends” selected by Apple Music and Shazam and released Wednesday local time.
Kep1er’s debut song “WA DA DA” was on the list of 50 songs that “shone” this year, on the “Shazam: 2023 Trends” list announced by Apple Music on the music discovery app Shazam on Wednesday.
Apple Music analyzes Shazam data every year and selects global artists from various genres who are expected to grow significantly in the new year, announcing the playlist of 50 artists at the beginning of the year.
Kep1er was the only Korean act to be selected on the “Shazam: 2023 Trends” playlist, with their song “WA DA DA” from the group’s debut album “First Impact” — released January 2022 — proving its global popularity.
Kep1er landed at the top of various global music platform charts including iTunes, Spotify, the U.S. Billboard chart and the Japanese Oricon chart immediately after the release of “WA DA DA.” The music video for the song has garnered 100 million views since its release.
In Japan, the song exceeded 100 million local cumulative plays and received a “platinum” certification on the Oricon chart as of October 2022.
The girl group expressed its gratitude for being mentioned on the “Shazam: 2023 Trends” playlist and thanked their fans and listeners for the support and attention.
