Actor Son Suk-ku founds production company of his own after leaving agency
"The Roundup: No Way Out" (2023) actor Son Suk-ku has established a production company, according to media reports on Monday. The decision is an unconventional one, as established actors who part ways with their agencies typically go the management route instead.
Son has been granted a business license for his company, reportedly named Stannum Co., on Jan. 2, with its office headquartered in Samseong-dong, southern Seoul.
Son departed from his previous agency, SBD Entertainment, last August, saying that he planned to take time off and focus on filming in December.
SBD Entertainment's former chief financial officer has been registered as the CEO of the actor's new company.
Son has established the company due to his strong interest in media content including movies and drama series, according to news outlet Mydaily's report. He has met with a lot of writer and directors since last year, the report said.
Son made his debut on the silver screen in 2015 through the movie “Black Stone.” He became a household name in Korea through leading roles in television programs including JTBC’s “My Liberation Notes” (2022), Disney +’s “Casino” (2022) and Netflix’s “D.P. 2” (2023), as well as the movie “The Roundup” (2022).
The actor stars as a detective in the upcoming Netflix original series “A Killer Paradox,” which will be released this Friday.
