BTS will make a special appearance at the American Music Awards (AMAs) on Monday for the first time in five years, the group’s agency BigHit Music announced on Thursday.

BTS is vying for the title of Artist of the Year against big names in the pop music scene, including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.

The group won the title in 2021, becoming the first Korean artist to accomplish this feat.

At this year’s awards, BTS has been nominated in the Best Male K-pop Artist and Song of the Summer categories with the track “Swim” from its latest full-length album “Arirang,” as well as for Artist of the Year.

The seven members, both as a group and through their solo careers, have earned 12 trophies at the AMAs since 2018, starting with a Favorite Social Artist award in 2018.

This year’s AMAs will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas at 5 p.m. on Monday.

Ahead of and following the awards ceremony, BTS will perform four concerts at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas as a part of its “Arirang” world tour on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and May 28. During this period, a BTS-themed urban project — titled “BTS The City Arirang - Las Vegas” — is scheduled to light up the city’s infrastructure in red, the signature color of the “Arirang” album, through a collaboration with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
