'Every Dream Matters' to JYP Entertainment, nonprofit donations total 8 billion won since 2020
JYP Entertainment has donated 7.92 billion won ($5.4 million) since launching its nonprofit program in 2020 and has supported hospital fees for 4,101 children across 10 countries, according to the agency on Monday.
The amount was disclosed in a performance report released on Monday detailing the program's achievements, which provides medical support to children in need.
The program, titled “Every Dream Matters,” initially started to help child patients who need medical treatment but are unable to find an appropriate hospital, through the agency’s MOU with four major domestic hospitals.
The agency’s employees, artists and trainees have volunteered for the program. A total of 1,046 participants contributed 2,454 hours over the past six years. Since 2022, the volunteers have created and donated 423 children’s books
The child patients have shown a 74 percent increase in willingness to undergo treatment compared to before they participated in the program, according to the K-pop agency. The program has also reduced the financial burden on patients' parents.
A survey on 315 children who received support through the program found that the patients' career vision has strengthened by 78 percent, and their sense of altruism and the willingness to give back to society have increased by approximately 87 percent, according to the report.
“We have witnessed an impact that goes beyond just numbers and figures through this initiative,” said Jeong Wook, the CEO of JYP Entertainment. “We will continue to return the love our fans have given us by continuing this virtuous cycle of ensuring the children of our society can safely dream their future.”
Founded in 1997 by singer Park Jin-young, JYP Entertainment is one of the biggest music agencies in Korea. It manages major K-pop artists, such as girl groups Twice and Nmixx and boy bands Stray Kids and KickFlip.
