Korea Music Content Association rebrands as KPIA

The new logo for the Korea Popmusic Industry Association [KPIA]

The Korea Music Content Association has changed its name to the Korea Popmusic Industry Association (KPIA), the organization said on Wednesday.

The KPIA is known for running Circle Chart, which tabulates the relative weekly popularity of songs and albums in Korea.

The name change was made to more clearly represent the association’s nature and purpose, intending to encompass the Korean popular music industry as a whole. The KPIA said it hopes to improve the business environment and serve as a central body to protect its members' rights and interests.

Major entertainment agencies, including HYBE, JYP Entertainment, SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment, as well as distributors like Kakao Entertainment, are members of the association.

The KPIA promotes the sustainable development of Korea’s pop music industry through public discussions and efforts to improve related policies.
