Tiger JK to perform at Yeowoorak Festival
Rapper Tiger JK will perform the final performances of the 2020 Yeowoorak Festival with a mix of gukak (traditional Korean music) and hip-hop, his agency Feel Ghood Music said on Friday.
Tiger JK will collaborate with art director Yoo Kyung-hwa and visual director Cho Poong-yeon in the final performances of the annual Yeowoorak Festival at the National Theater of Korea on Friday and Saturday.
Tiger JK and Yoo Kyung-wha, a leading female percussionist and a cheolhyeongeum (steel-stringed zither) performer, will perform music ranging from the traditional pansori "Sugungga" to Tiger JK’s 2009 “Monster," and visual director Cho Poong-yeon will add a video for their collaboration.
With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the finale will be available for viewing through the official YouTube channel of the National Theater of Korea (www.youtube.com/ntong2) or on Naver TV (tv.naver.com/ntok).
The performance will start at 8 p.m. on July 24 and 7 p.m. on July 25.
"I hope this concert will comfort those who are exhausted from the prolonged Covid-19 crisis,” Tiger JK said in a statement. “I hope to deliver a message of hope by bringing together two different genres of music.”
