Big Bang to embark on world tour to celebrate 20th anniversary
Legendary K-pop boy band Big Bang will kick off a world tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its debut this year, the band's agency YG Entertainment said Wednesday.
"We have agreed with the members of Big Bang to hold the event," YG Entertainment chief Yang Hyun-suk said in a video uploaded on Wednesday. "We have worked together for such a long time that we don't think there will be any difficulties."
Should the tour start this year, it will be the first time in nine years since the band's previous "Last Dance" tour that took place in 2017. Further details were not unveiled on Wednesday.
Yang also shared news of its girl group BabyMonster's new music. The band will release an EP in May, followed by a second full-length album in Autumn, according to the agency chief.
"The lead track of the EP will be 'Choom,'" Yang said. The band will also begin its second world tour in June.
Boy band Treasure will also release a new EP in June, this time with a hip-hop concept.
"The members came up to me and just told me that they want to try hip-hop," Yang said. "I was so surprised, and you will also be shocked that Treasure can pull off this kind of music, too. You can expect to see a very cool, YG-style music."
YG Entertainment marks its 30th anniversary of establishment this year. The agency will also debut another boy band by autumn, according to Yang.
